Last time I was at NB I huli'd and, because my rod was in the flush mount holder  :BangHead:, it broke loose again.  I gooped it up and fished the next day - no leaks.  Now, what should probably happen at some point is I need to add a backing plate and snug everything up.  However, it seems to be holding just fine.  I don't think I should put a rod in it... but i am considering just leaving it as it is for now and if it comes loose gooping it up more.  I have lots of projects and fishing to do and I keep thinking it will hold til winter... or at least until i win that hobie at the orc.  Figured you all are way more aware of how goop holds up - so i thought I would seek some input.  See if it holds?  Try to get the backing done now?

Should hold fine for a while, but a cutting board backing fix should take less than an hour.

part of it is i don't have the tools i think i need... jigsaw, or anything to cut a cutting board in a shape.  I could probably chase one done and borrow it... the only instruction I can find the the palmetto kayaking guys deal about the scotty rod holder.

not without taking it apart... it is a repeat offender.  one of the three holes is split to the center big hole... if that makes any sense. you wouldn't even know anything was wrong by looking at it now.

Super easy fix.
You will need some type flexible plastic backer unless the area around rod holder is flat.
Make a pattern for the foot print of the rod holder. Cut your plastic to shape. Goop all surfaces that touch. Tighten all screws.

Easy fix.

UHMW plastic.  Check your phone book for a local plastic supplier.
TAPP plastics may have it, but they deal mostly in fiberglass, acrylic and silicon mold materials.
