I'm liking Ecola state park from the aerial shot. It looks like that grouping of rocks right out front would do a lot to protect from waves. Plus there must be some nice pinnacles right out there w/ rockies all over it. Are there some kelp beds out there? Also the drive looks pretty central for all the NW anglers.

Ecola is a good surfing beach.  You've gotta watch your @$$ at high tide though cause the reform unloads on the inside sandbar.  I prefer to launch from the extreme north end of Cannon beach and paddle over.
No real kelp beds but lots of rock features.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

My first post!  Been fishing from a kayak for about 15 years.  Trout, salmon, steelhead and rockfish.

I live at Beverly Beach just north of Newport, fish here, Seal Rock and out of Depoe Bay mostly.  There's lots of camping here though frequently we get blown out - like this morning.  I found this video which just happens to be in my back yard.

I'm very interested in a tournament should one come about.

Welcom FishSniffer!  I've seen your posts elsewhere and just figured you were already a member.

Thanks.

Yea, I used to post on iFish alot (same name).  These days I'm spending too much time on fisheries politics for the NW Steelheaders.

Sunset beach would be a great spot for a tournament! where ever it is I'll be there. I don't care about the tournament part of it. I just think it would be cool to fish and hang out with people who share the same interests.
