I lived a couple of blocks above Island Lake for over a decade, used to fish it mostly with a small canoe.  Fishing is best after they stock it in the spring, but works at other times as well.  Try the western side of the island.  At worst you have a nice day, and there is a pair of eagles that normally nest on one of the trees on the island.  Summer months can get pretty noisy from the Crista camp at the south end of the lake.  Check the public health warnings in summer months, the poop content of the water often gets too high near the public swimming beach north of the boat launch.

If you are willing to go into the sound, launch at park in Eglon (between Kingston and Hansville) and fish for coho and sea-run cutthroat in the eel grass beds south of the boat launch.  If you don't want to kayak, put on some waders and bring your fly rod.

Never tried Long Lake, but I like paddling on Wildcat Lake.  Launch at the tiny park on the east side of the lake.  Avoid launching at the larger county park that is NW of the tiny DNR boat launch park.

Dyes Inlet (south of Silverdale) had a small group of 8 orcas swimming around earlier today.  I have kayaked with grey whales, but never had the chance for kayaking with orcas...

Sad to say I haven't been out since last November.  I hope to get out this weekend.

Good luck tomorrow!

There was an article in today's Kitsap Sun about fishing for trout in Wildcat lake.  They recommended fishing from the boat launch, but the author seemed to not have access to a boat.

Even if you don't catch any fish, Wildcat is a great lake for a kayak.
