The heel cups in my Addy are almost identical to my Prowler 13. Very easy to paddle, even without the drive plug in place.

I seriously want an Addy now.  Just need a sideline consulting gig to come through.  That or start chopping a LOT more firewood.

I'm going to take my dislike of the Outback to another level and state that I feel the the Outback is the least safe of the main three boats, especially for serious ocean fishing. I believe that if you consider going more than a mile from port in the ocean them you should not consider the Outback.

My reasoning is that the Outback is nearly impossible to paddle in any conditions other than flat calm. When your drive breaks and you are 3 miles from home against the current you are on a seriously bad spot in an Outback.

Great lake and river boat ... Not safe on the ocean.

Can't argue with that logic.  I've been thinking about that.  I ordered the Hobie repair kit with the spare parts and thought "I can't fix this on the water very easily and especially when I probably need it the most."  Then as I was window shopping I noticed a good paddle could run $300 or more.  Now that I have two outbacks, the next purchase will be an additional mirage drive.

The outback being inconvenient due to its difficulty to paddle...yes.  Not safe on Ocean?  I disagree.  Especially if you had a "spare" or even the right parts.  It'd be  HELL of a lot harder paddling in a 14 ft inflatable zodiac...or a 30 foot Grady White!  I see people on the water all the time with those vessels!

Your argument is similar to an argument I had with my fiancee about cars and trucks.  She says the truck is MUCH safer because it is bigger with more mass and is built like a tank!  When that truck hits your 2 dr civic Si she says, it will crush it like a soda can!  The truck will barely have a dent.  But my argument was that the Civic Si is made to avoid accidents.  Traction control is state of the art, slalom times are faster than a corvette, and its quicker from gear to gear.

I'm not sure who is really right on that one.  I think its a matter of perspective.  But to definitively state the outback is unsafe in the open ocean is I think stretching it a bit.

I do think my next single seat kayak will be either a revo 11 if geared to the kids or if for me an Adventure...err...Island!

I just bought a Revo 13 this weekend and just now got off the water. The maiden voyage was awesome! Quite happy with my decision.

Just buy one of each.  Then you'll have the "perfect" boat for the occasion.

The Addy is definitely a wet ride, but since we all have waders or a dry suit on it doesn't really matter. Wet ride means low center of gravity which means more stability.

Just go with an Adventure and don't look back..... unless you want to see some Revos and Outbacks trying to keep up. >:D

Going to the ORC? I will be bringing my Oasis and I will be glad to take you up on a friendly race on the river there - with Younggun in my back seat of course. (Although Lee and Linglady could probably smoke all of us.)

If I make it to ORC I will definitely take you on for the Addy vs Oasis challenge.

I picked the adventure even though I just got it. I can see me choosing it more often now over the outback. It's speed and it not being affected as much in currents are winning me over.

Nothing but love for my Outback, that being said I am also looking to pick up an Adventure.  The way I look at it is that my plunking/surf rods would not be the best choice for bass fishing.

I'm not sure I would lump the Revo 11 (11'6"x29") and 13 (13'5"x28.5") together.  Their aspect ratios are much different (5.65 vs 4.76).  I have a 13 and can not imagine giving up 2 feet of boat and still having it useful for the saltwater fishing and crabbing I do.  How differently do they peddle and paddle?
