Taking the fam to Kenai river for 4th. Probably camp at one of the skilak campgrounds. Going to load the raft on for a float of upper and middle, but also taking the kayaks for some lake fishing. I've never gone out on any of the lakes there. Had a buddy tell me years ago there's nothing in Skilak Lake...but I know that can't be accurate.

Anyway I'd love some suggestions. hidden lake is a big bunch of deep water...those two are the only lakes I know.

I'm going to have my 6 year old out with me for part of the days--so in those cases, I'm more interested in quantity over quality. going to check The state stocking site tomorrow.

When on my own at night, I'll try something that requires the potential for more patience.

Skilak has lots of Lake Trout, alot are caught ice fishing at the outlet, I caught a couple in front of the upper campground trolling in april.  I've heard that where hidden creek dumps in can be phenomenal for lakers as well.  Most i've seen are 14-20"

Thanks, Barbo. Maybe that's just where I'll stick then. Sure would be easier since I think we may camp right there.
