New fish hatchery has opened at Cheif Joseph Dam:

Quote
Situated directly downstream of Chief Joseph Dam, the hatchery will release up to 2.9 million spring and summer chinook to help rebuild naturally spawning salmon runs in areas impacted by the construction and operation of the Federal Columbia River Power System. Also, spring chinook will be reintroduced to the Okanogan River, a subbasin where they’ve not been since the 1930s.

YAY.   The Coleville Tribe have been a great ally of Columbia rivers salmon.  They were one of the first and maybe only tribes to use selective harvest techniques and now they are giving us all more fish.

I crossed the bridge there a few weeks ago.  Large complex.  It should increase opportunities for catching spring and summer Chinook on the Columbia substantially.
