I am on the extreme budget side of what I buy fishing, lets be honest I have a wife and I need to keep cost low to keep the chew outs low. I am thinking of getting this in the medium heavy set up. Figure it would be decent 2nd rod for ORC and salmon trolling. Any thoughts?

Will the tip of a 6'6" pole fit past the end of your kayak if you have to switch from the left to the right?

You'll want one that is longer for salmon trolling. Like between 7'6" and 8'6" Let me look around a little, I might be able to dig up a decent one for you.

That should be a pretty good option. You can find some good deals too on other 8'6" options. Okuma makes some good affordable option, as does Berkeley, and ugly stick. I love my okuma celio 7'6" MH rod. It works great for salmon, jigging and even sturgeon. It was also on sale at bi mart for 25 bucks :)

I have a MH ugly stick with my other set up. I jumped on this for the price. Then I put the money I saved into a new PFD since they had a good sale at cabelas

For the price you can't beat it.  I have a 7'6" trolling DM-TR-76M line wt 12-20lb that I've been using for 2-3 years.  I use for trolling for salmon it would make a good all around pole.  I have 3-4 of the reels and they work great.  I would think about something a little longer than 6'6" more like 7'6".

Hate to be negative, but I had a bad experience with Cabelas Depthmaster Reels several years ago.  I bought two reels, one for me and one for my son, and they both malfunctioned when confronted with a salmon.  Lost one fish and pulled the other in by hand.  I will say that Cabelas was very good about giving me a credit for them, when I returned them.
I saved up and bought Shimano Tekotas, and have never regretted spending the extra money.
Maybe Cabelas has changed manufacturers since my bad experience, but thought I'd let you know what happened to me.

I wouldn't doubt that. Just bought a trout rod the other day and had to immediately return it when it snapped on kapowsin.  But for $50 I was able to get that rod which is a second rod and upgrade some safety gear. Radio and a new PFD.

I got the 7'6" trolling DM-TR-76M line wt 12-20lb and reel combo 2 years ago as a low cost King trolling set and both items have worked great through 2 fall seasons, we will be using it again this fall.

I get lots of stuff from Cabela's and most of it is great but occasionally there is a problem and they have always been great about giving credit.   I had an IM-6 based rod break last year fishing Coho, got credit, upgraded to an IM-7 based rod, liked it so much that I bought a second identical one during the off-season....

I would much rather keep things cheap and some of the cabelas stuff is more than worth the cheap price tag. I have a 5wt rod and reel that I really enjoy and I have been on a few guided fishing trips and fish $1000 set ups for fly fishing and I still enjoy my $50 set up.
