Earlier this year there was a thread on which was better, bait or hardware.  The general consensus was bait is more effective, all other things being equal. Sometimes however, all other things are not equal and its time to temporarily put away the bait. Right now there are so many coho in Juan de Fuca that it is difficult to fish with bait as the coho are constantly on.  People are switching to spoons with a single hook and still getting some spring action (as well as lots of coho.) It's faster and easier to shake the coho and get your line back down fishing.

That sounds like an amazing problem to have...sadly I don't think I will ever have such a problem.

I'd much rather fish with tackle then bait when I can.

Bait is better if you want the fish to find you. Lures work best in situations where you find the fish. Which is better? The one that gets your rod bent.
Relax. You'll live longer.
