Re-posting this from my report on Central Coast Kayak Fishing...

Hit Montana de Oro (MDO) this morning with LOpaddler and another buddy (1st time out).  We arrived at 630 to find a low swell as forecasted but with a solid wind chop otw.  Overcast skies but no fog.  While we were gearing up, 2-3 commercial boats passed by the cove heading South and a commercial crabber was taking advantage of the lack of swell and was setting crab rigs just offshore of the cove, on the North point.  We got set up and were otw by 700.  Super easy launch and paddle out other than the chop.

We slowly worked our way to a waypoint I marked on our last trip out stopping at some promising looking piles and kelp beds.  Slow bite for about the first 45 min. or so.  Also during this time our newbie buddy headed for shore with some serious seasickness  :smt006  After an hour or so LOpaddler hooked the first ling, a nice one at just over 22" followed by a good sized brown, if I remember right.  The bite was still slow and we worked our way out to 80-95 fow.  Around 1000 we got into a honey hole of lings where we each got our limit.  LOpaddler caught and released another 3 lings and added a 24+" to his catch for a total of 5.  I caught 3 lings, releasing one and keeping a 23" and 24+" fatty.

As the day went on the weather continued to improve and ended up being one of the nicest days otw I've had so far this season.  We paddled in to a smooth landing and loaded up the catch after some show and tell with folks on the beach.  Stoked to get a limit of lings.  Would have like to find some reds but with the nice weather and fat lings I'll take it and be happy.

We are gonna hit Cayucos tomorrow at 700 for butt's.  Launching North side of pier and heading South.  We'll be working 40-60 fow and hoping for the best.  We'll post a report tomorrow afternoon.  Hopefully with another limit, this time of butt.

Those lings are awesome, but I can't take my eyes off of those sweet ninja booties. Are those part of your suit or just booties?

Limit of 2 ling's, 22" minimum.  Same for Halibut...

They came with my ninja of the month club subscription  ;D  They are surfing booties and they are separate.
