Can't keep my mind off of the idea of fishing from a kayak... I mean it's like I'm obsessed with video and reviews and on line chatter... I am 61 yrs old and worry that it may be a mistake to just jump into yakking only to find out that I am too old or too fat or not fit enough or just don't have the knack for the realities of powering through surf or back to the beach.... Soooo, I've joined this forum to educate  myself as to whether or not I should buy a kayak and go catch a cabezon at PC. I will be lurking and spongeing up information.... and I may ask a question or two... I can think of about fifty. Thats my story for now.

Best Regards,   George...

Welcome George. You've come to the right place to gather the information that might help you in your quest for cabazon.
Pacific City is a sweet spot to fish. Another good spot is Depoe Bay. There is no surf launch, rather you launch from the harbor directly out into open ocean. There are plenty of rockfish, lingcod, and cabazon to be found out there.

Welcome George! Everybody has limitations as to what they can do, they just vary. The trick is to learn the limits, and to work on expanding them so you can enjoy some of the things that other guys take for granted. I too am older and overweight, but I manage to make it through the surf and back once in awhile. Joining this forum is a great first step.
