My dad was  clearing out a lot of old stuff and gave me these rods/reels.  Most likely they date to the 1970's.  The longer rod  is 6'6", the shorter 5'6".  The longer one says "Tri-Sport T-70.  The shorter one says  Rapiday Custom Built by True Temper.  Reels (3 total) are all Penn 710 Spinfisher.

Are these bass/walleye/pike rigs, or what else would they be good for?  They seem pretty stiff.

Anything else you guys can tell me about them?

I have those EXACT same reels. They were beasts in SoCal waters.

Salt or fresh water?  What kind of fish did you target with your setup?

Based on the beefy looking reel seats and  the turned wood for the aft grip, I'd bet those were used on boats possibly on saltwater. I looked up the reels, and they say fresh and salt water. If they were meant for bass or walleye, I'd think they would have used cork for the aft grip to save weight since you don't need the durability of hardwood.

Well then, I may have a new jigging setup for lings and such.  Though I'm not certain how much I'll like spinning vs conventional reels for that.

The reel capacity said 200yds of 12lb mono. I imagine with the advances in line that you can get over 150 yards 20 pound copolymer. I wouldn't use braid. If I remember correctly, those reels can get the line under the spool if you don't close the bail by hand and make sure the line is on the roller before cranking. The skirted spool for spinning reels was invented to prevent that problem.
