Hello, my name is Josh.  I was introduced to the Hobie and am in the process of selling my boat to buy one.  I have some coworkers that introduced me to the Hobie and this forum.  I'm interested in the Oasis but would like to know if it is easy to use by yourself?  I won't be able to take the kids with me all the time but want to invest in the Oasis so I can take the kids when I can.  Any input would be great.  Thank you!

Welcome to the insanity! We're practically neighbors, I'm in Puyallup.
Oulala has one and peddles it by himself in the Ocean.

There are a few people on here that will take tandems out by themselves.   Lots of extra room for gear and fish.

Here is some of the discussion had on that subject. I believe lee would be most qualified to answer that question

Welcome Josh!  I love the Oasis for exactly reasons that you are asking about - I can take the wife or kids out, or I can go solo.  I've fished both the front and rear cockpits solo, with each having trade-offs.

Another great reference would be Sherminator.  He's had a couple years experience with the Oasis - and has many posts with suggestions.  We both fished the recent ORC solo in our respective Oases - both from the front.

The Oasis works fine as a solo boat. It is the same width as an Outback, and only 14lbs heavier, so if you can pedal an Outback, you can pedal an Oasis. After fishing from both the front and the back, I much prefer the front position. The fore - aft balance is way better from the front. Fishing solo means I can use the other cockpit for storage. For example, I don't have to have my big salmon net up in the air catching wind - I can lay it down over the unoccupied seat.

I also sit in the front when pedaling tandem, because then I can handle the landing duties and the splash catcher duties. My wife also prefers that I handle the helmsman duties too, and with the front tiller I can do that better because I have a better view from up front.

Thank you islandson671 for the welcome!  Once I get a kayak, we'll have to get together and go fishing.

Adam, haven't sold the boat yet, posting it tomorrow.

Thanks Justin, I like the idea of extra room for gear.

Thank you Dirk, Sam, and sherminator!  You helped seal the deal in wanting to getting the Oasis.  Now all I have to do is sell the boat.  Wife said that if I sell the boat, I can get a kayak.  I hope it sells quick, I want to get on the water!!

I have an Oasis, and it handles fine solo, from the front or back seat, but if you're in the back seat, it looks like a bass boat  :-)

If you want to try mine out, come to the Heroes on the Water event Saturday morning, Solo Point.

Brad rigged an Oasis the other day (FF, 4 Scotty blocks, extension rod holders...and some other features).

I must say they are sweet little tandems.
