Many years of anecdotal evidence suggests that a stripe pattern acts as a deterrent or repellent to sharks - but we now know there’s more to the story.

and the videos of sharks attacking the older shark cages made of bars didn't count as stripes?

My $0.02:  Those patterns would be great for use with stalkers like tigers and reef sharks but I don't think they'll help when it comes to ambushers like Whites.  Your sillouette as viewed from the bottom doesn't change.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Yep.  From below most everything is just a "dark" sillouette.  Even my bright yellow Adventure has a dark silllouette in our local water conditions (murky) once you go down about 10ft or so.

Heh theres quite the disclaimer:

All sharks are dangerous and unpredictable creatures. It is impossible for SAMS to guarantee that 100% of sharks will be deterred under all circumstances with the SAMS technology. Water based activities in the presence of sharks is inherently dangerous and is not recommended therefore we recommend that if a shark is sighted that the user leaves the water.

Didn't Adam Coco's yellow yak have black stripes on it when he got  visited by the landlord a few years back?
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.
