I'm heading up to Hobuck this Wed-Sat and was wondering if anyone else plans to be up there...tentative report looks like favorable conditions. I plan to camp in the trees in the northernmost part of the campground...I'll be in a Blue Jeep Wrangler and fishing out of a white/dune Hobie Outback.

What a blast! I headed up Wednesday after work...just me and 12 of my best friends (all named Sam Adams). I fished Thursday and Friday and filled a big cooler full of Ling/Cab/Rockfish fillets

The weather and conditions were perfect...calm seas, little wind and a very small swell...went the entire trip
without a hullie!

I fished around Strawberry Rock and the structure to the south on Thursday then hit the Kelp in the northern part of the bay on Friday and fished up towards the Rock Garden...High point of the day was finding myself in the middle of a pod of feeding Wales. Saturday I broke camp and C&R fished for a couple hours trying to break the 30" ling barrier but came up short...oh well, didn't really want to fillet anymore fish...best Ling was just shy of 30", best Cab was 26.75"...lots of big slab Rockfish in the 18" range...even a 16.5" Greenling.

a few more pics of a close encounter with a couple Whales and a greedy Ling...This is the way these two fish came off my stringer...tried to eat the greenling while he was strung up and  bleeding to death...righteous last meal!

Awesome!  If I'd known you were rolling solo I would have definitely made the trip with a dozen or two bottled friends in tow

Limit is 12 bottom fish total, with sub-limits of 10 rockfish, 2 ling cod, and 1 cabezon.  Greenling and other sculpins you might retain count against that limit as well, though there's no specific limit on them.

Jig weights of 1-6oz, depending on what you like and currents/wind.  I usually use 2-4oz.  I usually use Berkley Gulps, Big Hammers, Lancers, etc out there.  Some guys like to use some herring for bait.
