Anyone plan on fishing the derby this weekend? I plan on just launching from Owen's beach to jig darts and troll some herring,  for only a 35 dollar entry fee a lucky fish could end up being worth a lot, as the top 50 fish are in the money.

The Rules say you gotta bring the fish in by boat.  Weigh in stations are narrows Marina, point defiance Marina, and Des Moines Marina.  Limits fishing to commencement bay area and possibly as far south as Chambers depending on tide.

I'll text you tomorrow, maybe we can figure out a good plan.

There is a metro parks kayak launch dock right in commencement bay/       https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=218158076774877667235.000489de9d8aa8baec71c&msa=0

Hi,

Thinking I might fish this tournament but have not fished Commencement Bay before. Seems as if the traditional Salmon spots are centered around Browns Point. Would it make more sense to launch from Dash Point State Park? Seems like the park is not accecable until 8:00 AM and it appears to be a trek from the paking lot to the beach so this might not be a good option. Any other thoughts about launch areas? Also is the Point Defiance Marina the closest to Commencement Bay and Browns Point? Definitely not a Kayak friendly venue it appears..

Dash point is actually a really easy launch if you have wheels.

Browns point isn't too bad, but once pinks are in, that place is packed and parking is bad.

I've heard point defiance is a good launch but haven't been there yet.

I'll be fishing that area, but not doing the tournament.
