I was trolling yesterday off of meadow point and there was tons of weed in the water that kept making it's way down the line.  Does anyone have any weed guard products they would recommend or has anyone made one?  I was thinking of trying to fabricate something at home.

When I troll I generally have the mainline with a snap swivel at the end, then a banana weight followed by a lure of some sort.  (I keep it pretty simple) and most of the weed is hanging up at the swivel / weight as you would expect.  I thought about sliding the end of a pen / pen lid to the line before attaching the swivel but if anyone has any other ideas I may give those a try.

  Hey English,

I have the same problem out here in the Willapa Bay. Lots of weeds  >:D >:D >:D

Been trying the little plastic "golf tees" to keep weeds off. They don't work great but do intercept some of the junk. Something that can help is to troll/mooch with the tide. Of course--you should be doing that already. Stay in tune with how your rod acts without weeds and with weeds so you can clear your bait when it gets gunked up. That could end up being every 10 minutes or less. If there is a better answer --I'm all ears. :o
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.
