The 4th AOTD is now in the books and by far the best yet!

17 anglers signed up including one awesome Woman. This is the first year that all registered participants actually made it out. The conditions were decent but not perfect, with some swell and fog but best conditions yet for an AOTD tournament. The fishing was good and the potluck was kick ass!, all the food was excellent and the company was as well.

I just want to thank all the people that showed up, You guys did great and nobody got lost(well, too lost) in the fog. I hope to see you all for next years tourny!

To all the sponsors that stepped up:

Waxer's Surf Shop
Englund Marine
Caddis Fly
Eugene Skin divers
Mazama Sporting Goods
Sea Fare Pacific
Turman Tackle
Bites On Tackle shop

Thanks for your continued support and the great prize packages!

Thanks too to Scott(surf12foot) for making the great shrimp flies for the captains bags and the raffle prize of the box of many large saltwater flys, awesome!

Thanks to Dana and Anthony for cooking up the great fried fish.

Thanks to Langston from Kayak Shed for making the trek down and bringing some swag..

I really want to thank Brian and Lia Menten  From Waxer's Surf Shop in Coos Bay for stepping up with a $500 Dollar Hobie credit for first place this year, along with a 200 and 100 dollar credit also. Thanks Brian and Lia, you guys ROCK!!

The winning stringer this year included a monster almost 38 inch, 25 pound Lingcod that would have have won any ORC so far...Yes we do have big fish here! :o  The locals kicked some butt in the tourny so i expect you guys from out of town/state to come flocking in next year to knock them off the pedestal!

I had the video of your monster ling in my mind the whole time I was trying to get the lip grippers on her. They barely clamped down on that fat lip!

We had to represent our home town stomping grounds! Evan almost beat me! I got really lucky. The cabbie sealed it for me...it was definitely the hail Mary for me. I caught it with just enough time to make it in to check in.

Yeah I'm kicking myself for not making it.  Next year I'm going to try and plan the family camping trip during this tourney.  Problem is that Sunset SP seems to fill up with reservations close to 5 months in advance.

Is there another campground nearby?

Yeah, bastendorf camp grounds is a mile or so closer than sunset. I think it fills up pretty quick too but it's worth looking into.

Looks fun and awesome! Way to go Ling Ling - nice fish! I guess until I win a tourney or something I have to stop arguing with you about rigging...  ;D

Good job to everyone!

Good job to everyone!

The first step is entering into one of these events! That would have been an interesting fight on anything lighter than what I was running!

Here's a pic of the early morning launch conditions, and also one of Browneyesvictim with his huge ling.

A special thanks to Roy and Dudi for putting on a great tournament, also for putting up with me as a house guest!
