Went out pink fishing for the first time today with a brand new Penn Battle 4000 bought for a great price this weekend at Sportco, unfortunately for me they over filled it and was constantly tangling on the spool. In my efforts to peel off about 30 yds of line I dropped the whole kit and caboodle in about 20 ft of water just north of dash point state park. Maybe my misfortune will be somebody else's luck. The positive is my wife was cool and let me go replace the reel and buy a nicer pole than I had (new St. Croix). Oh well the weather was beautiful

If someone finds it, would you like it back?
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

? What fisherman wouldn't want it back? That reel is probably toast though.

If someone was motivated enough you might be able to find it with a mask and some fins. Plus a wet suit.

Ha Ha. That puppy is gone. I just learned a valuable lesson- a pole leash doesn't do any good if you disconnect it. I jumped on Cabelas and ordered some pole floats as well.  I promise this lesson doesn't need to be learned all over again. Painful enough once  :embarassed:

Sorry for your loss.  As a diver who has tried to locate other's lost gear I can tell you its way beyond a needle in a haystack unless you GPS marked it the instant it went in....and even then there is still a margin for error.

Kinda like when my 300.00 saddlebags came off the back of my Harley SOMEWHERE between Fort Flagler and Port Orchard.....ugh.

Oh man, I can totally see myself doing that.  I didn't realize there was such a thing as "rod floaters".  Thanks for the tip - I think I will order some as well.

I wish I had my mask and fins in the truck. Once I add the locking tool box to the trailer I think I will leave them there for just such an occasion. Sorry Tim... At least you got a solid replacement!
