In years past I have had good success launching from the north end of golden gardens and heading out to the can due west. Then trolling north and south. Most fish were picked up on the turn when my gear was falling. Troll slow.

Sent from my Motorola Flip phone.

I was out on the water before sunrise and trolled for 6 hours. Nothing. I did have one on but it jumped and shook the hook. I think I'm not getting down deep enough, as I don't have an outrigger. How deep are you guys going when trolling? Do you use a banana weight or something else? What size is your weight and do you let it just slip along the ling or use some sort of rig? Glad to hear others are catching some! Keep at it, I know I will.

I usually follow the fish, if the marks are at 10 - 15 feet I work the surface. If they are down 40 feet I use a diver. When it gets deeper than that I mooch or jig for them.

Overall the bay is really slow, fish and bait are scattered. Many fisherfolk trolling or mooching and very few fish caught for the effort. Hope it picks up in the next couple of weeks, it's hardly worth going out right now.

I agree. I haven't seen any fish on my finder at all, even though I've caught three on a buzz bomb. I am either not using the Elite5DSI right, or just not been looking when they were under me. It is more likely that I don't know what I'm doing.

Launched off the marina again this morning and fished the point. Got nothing. I'm either doing something wrong or I have bad luck. Boats around me were bringing in fish. Maybe without the down rigger I just can't get down to where the fish are. I saw some jumpers too, although I never see a fish on my fishfinder. I can't figure that out either *shrug*. I'll keep at it. I'll get a fish eventually! :)

You are probably doing everything right. Maybe it's karma? You have to stack up the good deeds sometimes before the fish gods provide. Last year I was having a hell of a time to keep a king on my line. I got frustrated and started picking up litter around the fishing spot. I landed my first salmon of the year the next day.

Yaktrap and I fished Westpoint most of the morning.  Lots of bait, a few marked fish but not a lot of catching. I think I saw two fish caught all morning.  We made our way towards Meadow Point but turned back in to the beach at the Elks Club where we launched.  YakTrap had one take down trolling.  I couldn't buy a bite.  Fish & Game were out there talking (or ticketing) power boaters for being inside the Shilshole line.  We made our way out before lunch.  The water is brown in color and possibly from an algae bloom.  We don't think the fish can see the presentation.

I think all the Pinks went into Elliot Bay to hide out from all the boats on Shilshole Bay. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. ;D
