I'm going to hit the water right after sunrise, probably around 6am. Would love to have some company if anyone is interested. I'm determined to get one that I can take home. :)

I was thinking of fishing either Shilshole or three tree this weekend.  Are you targeting Silvers, kings or pink?

There will be a crowd of us out there on Shilshole this weekend. I live on this bay and will be on it every morning thru salmon season. See you out there.

10 years ago I was out there every day during the salmon season, and every year since. I hope to be doing it for another 20 years. As long as I can get a kayak to the beach, I'll be out there.

I keep telling people it's not about the fish, or about the winning. It goes much deeper than that, like a beast I have to keep feeding. It's a healthy addiction, keeps me active. I just passed my 49th birthday and got this nice present from mother ocean on that day.

That's awesome. Happy belated! What a nice present, too. I fished damn near every day last salmon season. I agree, it is a healthy addiction. Though, I broke my hand netting someone's king last year...so it proved to be an expensive salmon season. It was worth it. Not to get all cheesy but I can definitely feel your passion for fishing. You are my hero! Your reports always get me super stoked and they work as a motivator to get me out on the water.

You certainly are a beast!

Although I am not as lucky as Yaktrap to be fishing every day, I think I will get lucky enough to fish both days (at least early mornings) this weekend! Xtort and Yaktrap, I shall see you there. We need to coax.BallardBrad to come out and play in the morning as well :)

Hope you guys hooked into some fish.  I've spent the past 4 days out there without much to show.  Fish are scattered; though I did see a nice sized king at the surface yesterday and a school of 40 pinks that were 4 feet under my kayak near the green buoy.  That keeps me interested.

I hit West Point area at sunrise. No joy for me and I didn't see anyone land a fish in the 3 hours I was out there. Several marks at 20 to 40 feet, but no bait balls. Of course there are lots of marks on the meter and bait balls once you come back into the bay thru the closed area. It seems somebody told the salmon where to hide from all the hooks this year.

There are nice kings to be had in MA 10 right now. We went 3 for 5 yesterday plus a coho. Fish were between 8 and 20 pounds.

FG, you forgot to add that you were fishing from a PB charter.

;D details ....
The point is there are plenty of fish around. We were mooching so in the same spot those fish could have easily been kayak caught.

For reasons that are inexplicable, I fished from the shore (not my yak) at Carkeek yesterday (Sat, 8/10).  Got there just after sunrise, and fished for four hours.  Nothing but a few sculpin, and only saw one or two jumpers the whole time (on the upside, almost no one on the beach except for a guy waiting to propose to his girlfriend -- she showed up and said "yes!)

Going to try to convince the family that we need to see the sunset at Golden Gardens tonight and (assuming I can find a pair of cable clippers) launch my kayak from there for an hour or two of fishing before the sun goes down.  Other than "head north", any advice as to where the pinks might be that time of day?
Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day.  Teach a man to fish and he will drink beer in a boat all day!

Word on the street is that one of our taller bros (not me unfortunately) landed an 18# out there today. They are definitely around.
