Damn, I would rather be out fishing than having to take the dog to a vet appointment! Such a beautiful day! Congrats Roy on your first 2013 Nook!

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

Thanks guys..Not  a big one but fun...And my first hatchery Nook, way cool!.

Launched at the BLM ramp on the nrth spit at about 8:30 this morning. There was a few trailers in the parking lot so i was encouraged but didn't see but one boat fishing the area i was gonna target. as i got closer i saw the boat was sideways(the universal i have a fish on sign). then they ran back and on the next pass they hooked up again... Now i was getting excited! when i got to the chip pile they gestured one fish and said shallow.. I raise my gear up in the water column and did a couple passes with no love.

I had called my PB buddies and told them i saw fish in this area and they showed up and immediatlely caught a jack on the bottom so i lowered my gear back down and ten minutes later i see a little tap...tap on my pole so i slowed down and wham! off to the races..A few nice line peeling runs and a wierd perpendiculor head stand like it was a dead head then one last run when it saw the net and this fish was mine! Actual weight was 16.5 pounds and 31.5 inches. A nice hatchery buck, my first ever hatchery Chinook so was pretty exciting! Pretty sure this was my earliest Chinook (by one day) and for sure the earliest caught on the Coos. Gonna be a great season!

Camera mount is getting wonky so my camera is tipped forward too much and i cut my head off.. And per usual i recorded an hour of just trolling and literally minutes before i hooked up my battery died so didn't get it on video...errr! >:(

Awesome report, Roy! That's a nice first '13 Chinook! I would be happy with a jack. I'm getting out there!
