Resurrection Bay Coho-Singular

So had to try fishing somewhere but scheduled didnt allow for much time.  Tried Seward while the Silver Salmon Derby was going on.  Ponied up the ten bucks and tried it.

Well the Cohos aren't as close to town as I had hoped.  Over 5 hours it was 3 takedowns, 2 fish fought, one landed.  A nice 28 incher that should go about 12 pounds or so. 

I sure hope the fish I lost didn't have a tag on it.  Could have been a $50K or a new truck!  Got lazy when I saw how small it was, it took off into the rudder and snapped me off.  Argh.

Thanks all!  My avet needs some tune up. My fiancée leaves me all alone while she travels and I used get gear and even lent her kayak out to Spot!  Teach her to leave me with all her gear!!! Lol.

Can't wait to get out in Seward again with the fish running around! Good job on the silver!

Nice! We are making a trip out of Seward this weekend--the one we postponed a few weeks ago. Not sure if we'll join the derby or just fish for the fun. But if it's only $10, I think I'll pay up and give it a shot. What the heck.

Derby is over but the fish should be much closer!  While herring behind a flasher will still be the go to offering, as it gets later in the season, you may want to consider more reaction type lures like spinners or plugs much like the rivers.  I'd think the fishing should be good from the sea life center all the way out to Caine heads.  I tend to concentrate between riight off Miller's landing to Tonsina Creek.
