...salmon fever. I temporarily alleviated the symptoms today! I caught my first kayak Chinook! Not the biggest fish I've ever caught...just a jack and I'm happy with that  ;D
I just celebrated my victory with some pan seared salmon belly and a Blue Moon.
I didn't think this little guy was AOTY worthy so I didn't bother with pictures.
Perhaps I'll snap an Instagram style foodie pic later. Minus the hash tags.
Anyway...I'm way too excited for this salmon season!
Get out there and bag some fish! They are definitely here!

I found that a little (more like a lot) of persistence and copying what the power boats were doing/using pays off.  Friday and saturday I was using a Kone Zone flasher that I got in my Captains bag from ORC. I wasn't impressed with the way it moved through the water. Yesterday, all the boats I saw that netted fish were using a Big Al's fish flash. They were super flashy and spin-y.I picked up a big Al's flasher later that day and put it to use today. There was a boat probably 100yrds a head of me netting a fish...same flasher! I quickly adjusted my course and followed the lane they were trolling and a few minutes later I had a fish in my kayak! Shortly after Merz(Evan) landed a nice jack too. Overall it was a nice day...at least till the wind and chop picked up. I didn't mind the splashy wet trip back to the launch :)

Wow nice fish and report, and food porn to top it all off! I guess I'll have to start adding my after-catch dinner notes to my reports  ;D

Nice work!

Dude, I was watching master chef while eating that food. I didn't want to admit it but we spent waaaay too long trying to plate and photograph that dish. It wasn't up to chef ramseys standards but at least it wasn't "roaar!"...it was almost 'stone cold' by the time we sat down and ate haha.

Thanks Roy, we like to cook in my house. I wanted to do a pan seared fillet with hollandaise type sauce and asparagus but you already posted a similar dish. :D

Keta, definitely post your food! I bet your food as as good or better than your reports!

LOL..One of my new favorite ways to cook Salmon. Smothered in a aioli garlic mustard sauce and sprinkled with this kick ass molasses brown suger.. I added a little extra fresh chopped garlic 'cause i like garlic alot and the garlic in the sauce cooks off some... Aspergrass drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Cooked on the trager with maple pellets.. way good!

And of course a ice cold Session to go with it.

We had to order both of these online, haven't found it here.

See ya on the water..

That sounds delicious! Did you fish today? I trolled near the boardwalk with no luck. I only had about three hours so I didn't want to drive all the way out to eastside. I hugged the tug boats and stayed out of the wind.

Great idea..I drove out to somar, took my boat of the trailer, stayed there for an hour and watched it get windier and choppier by the minute, loaded boat back up, went home...

Yeah, that wind sucks. Evan pointed out that this weekend looks nice for wind and swell. I'm thinking I might troll around in the ocean. There's got to be some fat Chinook staging out there. That's my hope anyway. I'd love to land a Chinook in the salt.  8)

I went out to Somar around 3 or 4 and fished for about an hour. It was very windy and choppy and the tide was ripping. I hugged the barges most of the time to get out of the wind and ended up with no bites. I made the mistake of not wearing my drysuit and was pretty soaked when i was done. Looks like another windy day tomorrow.
