It’s official.  I joined the Kayak Shed Fishing Team last week.  Thank you John and Brian for this amazing opportunity.  I also ordered my Hobie Pro Angler 12.  I feel like a kid at Christmas, waiting to open my presents.  The day I get to take it out on the water just cannot come quick enough.
Little about me:   I grew up fishing on the Palouse (Eastern Washington).  I lived in a little town called St. John in Washington.  As a young boy, my friends and I would ride our bicycles on the back roads to Rock Lake or the Palouse River to fish.   My father owned property at 7 Bays on Lake Roosevelt, so I spent many summers fishing the surround area.  When I received my driver’s license, I began fishing the little lakes surrounding the Cheney Washington area.  After high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for the next 4 years.  Unfortunately, I did not get a lot of fishing time.  Upon release from the military, I devoted my time to fishing until I started a family (My wife and 3 kids took up a great deal of my fishing time).  My kids are now in school full time and I find myself with plenty of extra time.  Additionally, my current employment affords me with plenty of days off.  As a result, I have begun fishing habitually again (around the Tri-Cities, WA).  I started off bank fishing, but noticed the banks were always crowded during the steelhead run.  I toyed with the idea of getting an aluminum boat, but decided against it due to the extreme cost.  Instead I started kayak fishing with my inexpensive $150 kayak to see if I would enjoy it.  I have found it gratifying because of the simplicity and low cost.  It allows me to strap the kayak to the car and begin my adventure.  The cost is cut in half because my car gets better mileage than my truck.  Also, I save money due to no on-water cost for fuel.  I have discovered I enjoy fishing from the kayak; mainly due to sitting low on the water and feeling closer to the action.  The kayaks are also great for sneaking into those fishing holes quietly.
Hope to see you on the water!
