Forecast said high wind and swells.
Fog set in before daylight and nary a breeze blew for most of the day,  we got out of the house and on the water ;D
Paddlin out 300 yards or so

Schweeeeet!

Way to go boxofrain!  Those are some dandy little lings.  I'll bet they tasted good!

Boxofrain, I come down there every so often (every other month).  Wish I'd have found this board and your post as I was just there for a meeting with ODFW and concerned anglers

If it's OK I'll try to hook up with you next time.  Fishing was spectacular the next day with limits of black snapper, cab, ling and speckled trout.

Thank for the report.

Greg

I was just glad to have the weather cooperate when I had a day off!!!
My buddy caught a few as well and those included speckled trout.MMM one of the best lil fishes to eat.
We also picked up about half a dozen butter clams laying around where we launched, threw em back, not enough to eat and no digging tools for finding more.
The osprey have returned and we shared the cove with a pair of them fishing...hovering -spotting-diving-take off...awesome!!

fishsniffer, gimme a heads up before yer next trip this way and we will see what we can do, a beer or coffee at least.

Nice one BOR... nothing better than a minty ling! For two hours of work a legal ling isn't that bad. Butter clams laying around w/ osprey's diving for fish? Sounds like a nice place. Will have to visit some day soon. BTW, by speckled trout do you mean greenling? I've heard of speckled trout but only on the Gulf Coast.

yes Sir....Kelp Greenling or speckled trout or sea trout. They are called a few things by different folks around here.
And, they are different than the speck's we used to catch in the Gulf for sure.
Cold water fish just seem to be firmer and have a better flavor than the warm water fish I have tried.

I would love for a visit from any of Ya'll.
Maybe have a Far South Gathering some day.

Pole is getting the local fish reports now, so maybe he can determine the best time of year for that.

you like the clams on the beach ?
then you would like to know that abs are taken from the rocks at low tide just by wading! ;D

Abs......... Yummy!!!

Thin sliced raw and marinated in soy sauce with green onions.  Dang!  Why do I do that to myself before lunch?
