Sept. 03, 2013.
Launched my Hobie Pro Angler 12 at Columbia Point Marina and pulled plugs down river to Bateman Island.  I got a couple of bites, but I was not paying attention to the pole (in the rod holder), because I was too busy playing with the new Lowrance Elite 7 HDI.  I spent about an hour around the powerboats and saw no one landing fish, so I changed gear and decided to bass fish the Yakima River.  Got one good strike but I could not horse him out from a fallen tree.  I think it is time to change to braid.  I need to practice casting out of the Pro Angler.  My aim was surprisingly good, but my distance was way off.  Quite often I overshot and got hung up.  By the time I retrieved my lure all the fish were gone from the area.  Oh well.  It was a beautiful day and for the first time out it gave me some time to figure out my gear.  Now if I can just figure out the fish.

The rock wall across from Clover island was holding numerous bass a few weeks back.  I image that a slowly trolled crankbait would still do wonders in there.

Yeah, I don't now if I actually go fishing anymore since I got mine. I probably should say that I'm going fish watching on my Elite 7 HDI.

Is it really that good?

Yes, it is good.  I like the broadband teamed with the Down Scan.  I split the screen 50/50.  With the broadband I was picking up the 3/8 bullet weight on my Texas rig.  Also, with the Down Scan there is no question what you are looking at.  It was more than I origanally wanted to spend, but worth every penny.

I'll be fishing the Columbia just south of you next month.  We should get together down there.
