Can't believe it "TWO FATTIES" 21# hatchery HEN, 16# native. Both gave awesome fights.

What a way to start the salmon season.

Nice fish!

BTW, that "native" looks like a mis-clipped hatchery, at least the picture makes it look that way.  Either way, still a nice fish!

Right now is the time to MAKE IT HAPPEN........... ::) ::) ::)

Just do it------you might start a new "favorite hobby".
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Keta, have you ever caught a thirty pound Chinook? Or had a coho go ape shit crazy on the end of your line? It's the most fun you can have sitting down! The drag peeling runs and acrobatics are my drug. I'm addicted to that rush from fighting big fish. The shakes you get after you win or lose a battle with a big Chinook is probably my favorite thing in the world. I will troll for hours and hours in hopes for that one chance battle with a chromy bastard.

Well when you say it like that...  ;D  My typical line when someone asks why I don't fish for salmon much goes like this: "I like catching fish too much to go salmon fishing." Point being it seems like the effort-to-catch ratio is pretty high, and basically I'm impatient. Also I kind of hate trolling in general, but that's just personal preference.

Anyway to answer your question, "sorta"... I caught a limit of sockeye on the bank of the Kenai in Alaska, and that was a hoot. Caught a few coho out of Seward on the same trip, also a hoot, and all of it was excellent eating of course. I just see these guys trolling for hours and hours on end and I think to myself "in half the time they'll spend I'll catch twice as many fish".

All that said, I do get the draw, I really do. I've got nothing against salmon fishing in general, I'm just impatient and have had bad luck the times I've tried. But maybe I'll have to give it a try, once I have a pedal-driven boat. Certainly wouldn't mind putting some salmon on the table!
