So, yesterday bsteves and I launched out of Swain Island for some potluck fishing.  We started the morning out slow trolling spinners at 30ft depth line on the west shore of the Willamete for springers, but nobody was catching.  We switched over to sturgeon mid morning, as we saw several pb's catching lots of undersized, and a couple legals.  We boated 7 sturgeon in about 2 hours of fishing, all undersizd (25-35 inches), but that was fun anyway. Then we headed back into the ship channel, and fished between the boats for crappie and small mouth, but the sun was high overhead by then.  We talked to one of the dock workers and he said the crappie fishing is really good at dusk, we couldn't wait that long so we headed in.  But all in all a good day.  We were supposed to hit it again today, but we are both coming down with the daycare cold.  Here is short video of one of the sturgeon.

Somebody owes me a buck....   ;)
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Now look boys, you can't put a price or points on a good day fishing with your old fishin buddy.   ;).  But I don't blame you Allen, we were talking some smack.  I guess that's just our NorCal roots showing.

You know I'm just ribbing you guys.   ;D

If it makes you feel any better, Zee and I got skunked at Dungeness spit.  No butts for us. And a nice long 200 yard slog through the mud at the end of the day.  Note to self: never plan a trip to Dungeness on a minus tide.

Polepole,

I almost forgot... I should probably mention, if you guys are going to go out to Dungeoness spit, don't get stuck in a low tide coming back to the car.  It's WAY shallow and flat and you'll have to drag you kayaks across a long stretch of mud if the tide goes out while you're fishing.  >:D

Seriously though, when Pisco and I fished it I remember about 30 extra feet of beach we had to cross when we got back.  Never thought about how it would be in a minus tide.   ;D

Ahhhh, it's good you guys are still young!  LOL

If at first you don't succeed....  maybe skydiving is just not for you.
