Down Scan Imaging or Down Imaging does work in a shoot through kayak hull application. This debate comes up often and never seems to end. To put this debate to rest, we went to engineers at Lowrance and Humminbird to get the final word. Yes, there is a slight degradation is signal, but still, IT WORKS!

Allen did you ask them if they are absolutely sure. We could debate this for a while longer. Yes it works.

They were sure enough that they had no issues with me quoting them saying this is what it is.   ;)

I've got to say that it does work. How well it works is debatable. I used the Hobie FF installation kit foam, it's made for Lowrance transducers. I get an okay reading on 455 but pretty much a blank screen when on 800, even after adjusting clarity settings. I've decided to upgrade to a 2014 Hobie to alleviate the problem, also I get a new color :D :D :D.
