Check out all the Jellyfish in PC last weekend. Kind of weird as there seemed to be miles of these Jelly's from south of the rock to upwards of 2 miles out. Makes it pretty tough to troll using herring, when we kept getting tangled up these things. Doughboy, AJ and myself finally made it past, but something I've never seen before. Avail in HD1080

There were also a lot of jellyfish there during the 2008 ORC. That was my first time on the salt, and I thought they were very cool! Didn't have much of a problem bottom fishing through them.

They were all over the place off of Depoe Bay two weeks ago, too.

Very cool video.  How big around are they and how long are the tentacles?  I could not tell the size from the video. Marcus

I would guess most of the bigger ones to be around 12''-16" in diameter around the bell with 6'-8' long trailing tentacles. I hear they've become a huge nuisance to the local Oregon commercial fisherman by getting stuck in their nets. Their dense swarms have also become problematic for scientific trawls and water intake. They appear to be Pacific sea nettle's, but don't quote me on that.

There's an article in todays Register Guard about how the increase in the oceans acidification causing certain species, like jellyfish, to be more abundant.

Great video, thanks for putting that up! I too have seen a ton around Pacific City over the summer. A few weeks back they were practically swarming under my kayak.

I'm no expert, but I've been told they are "Lion's Mane" jellyfish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion's_mane_jellyfish

That's pretty close, but these are what I saw in PC. Check out the link below. Read the part about "feeding and predators"

Cool video. There are plenty of them on the coast of Washington as well
