My name is Dave and I just got my first kayak for my 46th B-day present to myself.  :toothy5:
(My wife got one too just to make it easier to get away with.)

I've been fishing the banks for steelhead, salmon and sturgeon for around 30 years or so and I've had (and still have one) a few little power boats along the way but never really learned to fish from them very well.  I usually just use the boat for transportation to another spot along the bank that I can't drive or hike to.
You Kayak guys always look like your having more fun than me from what I can tell so I started some research and rented some boats a few times to make sure I really wanted to make the investment.

I ended up deciding on the Jackson Kilroy and located one in the color I wanted  so it's now in my garage waiting (impatiently) to go get scratched up on some rocks or something and maybe get bled on a little by some accommodating fish.  I have to say...This is a very different looking and feeling boat than anything else I looked at during my search for something that would meet my needs.

I'm looking forward to learning all I can from you guys and hopefully be able to contribute something useful once in a while.

I'll try to post a pic. of the Maiden Voyage when I get back tomorrow.   :toothy9:

This is what I'll be targeting whenever I get the chance.  ;)

Welcome Dave!  As a newb myself my advice is read all the safety stuff on the site first!  Sounds like you have plenty of fishing knowledge.  Anyway enjoy the new boat and the madness.

Welcome to the site!  Lots of great info here!!!!!  That's a nice looking fish!

What you described is ideal for kayaking.  You should have a blast!!! I'm bummed I didn't really get started in Kayak fishing until I got back to Alaska.  Some of the areas in Western Washington would have been ideal!  Probably would have been on the rivers steelheading every chance I got!
