Thanks for the reports guy's.  I've been itching to fish Siltcoos just waiting for the rain.  I'm debating wether to fish the Siuslaw this weekend or fish Siltcoos.

I have been holding off on Tahk, have not seen any reports from there, last check I did the outlet creek was small...

nice to hear there are some fish up Maple Creek, we were up there last Monday and it was dead...they had been letting water out but the lake is down to normal level and I think it will take more rain before they let much more water out...next big series of storms and it should be popping with coho...roger

I fished Siltcoos thursday. Trolled from the boat ramp north around the island, then south to the other island and back along the shore. Used a pink wiggle wort half the time and a pink/silver blue fox the other half. No bites or fish seen.

Also fished the fivemile arm of Tahkenitch earlier in the week. Caught one small dark fish on the wiggle wort and saw a few others jump. This was before we got all the rain though.

Will probably fish the maple arm of siltcoos sunday. I will give a report.

I fished the maple arm on tues marked a lot of fish had one hit but no love.  Heard of one fish caught there that day.  With the rain we've had that's where I'd fish and hopefully will on tues.

Friday from our PB:

we fished Tahk all morning, Mallard and 5mile arms, nothing rolling or jumping, no catching for us or any boats around us. it seems the rain caused the fish in there to run up the inlet streams...

we fished Siltcoos all afternoon, by the inlet, Fiddle (totally dead) and Maple (maybe 2 jumps) arms, then by the inlet again (totally dead), nothing rolling or jumping, no catching for us or any boats around us. water level is higher by about a foot since my last check on Wednesday.

so about 8 hours total on the water actually fishing, usually with at least 3 or 4 other boats near us in view, did not see a single fish hooked up.  :(

cheers, roger

Thanks for the report Roger. I think I'm going to wait it out before  making the drive up north.

I've got a tentative plan to go to Siltcoos and Tahkenitch with the Mrs. the last week of Nov. in case anyone spots a camo and a yellow Trident out there, that's us. I had a question about the regs. If you tag out on the one coho allowed, you are not supposed to continue fishing for trout. I've got that. But, say for example, you've enrolled in an online kayak angling contest and there are a bunch of other species in the lake, do you think there would be a problem with law enforcement if you were targeting other non-trout species? That is, if your gear appeared to be for the other species, are you going to be ok?

you have what is clear correct, per the NW zone regs, you cannot continue to angle, even C&R, for jacks or trout after you retain a limit of adult salmon (1 coho in this case.  the lakes are not open for Chinooks and thus a 2 salmon limit never applies.)

the lakes have some bass and perch (that are normally targeted during summer when the water is warmer, it was 55F on Friday), but technically, you can switch gear (and locations) and continue fishing for them...that is to say, the regs do not specifically say you must totally stop fishing.

locally, this is an issue, we see people on boats potentially taking overlimits of coho by continuing to fish same exact pink spinners or small plugs immediately after catching an adult coho.   this can result in another boat coming over and check to see if you are clear on the regs.... :police:
