Hey fellas.  Moved to the northwest at the beginning of the year from southern California.  The transition has been........interesting.  Kinda miss all the warm water species down there, but I think salmon will help ease the pain.  Been kayak fishing for quite a few years now, although I seem to be spending more time diving and spearing from the yak than fishing.

Would love to meet some other fisherman.  Let's go catch some fish!

Welcome to the site! You're a short drive over to Depoe Bay, have you made it over there yet? The Ocean, and weather in general, is certainly pretty different up here but there is some great fishing out of Depoe.

Welcome to the area. It is always hard to leave fishing spots of old and move into new territory. There are great people on this site who will gladly share what they know. If you head up to Portland, post up and we will get you on the water.

As Noah said above. Depoe Bay is a great place to start.

I live in Corvallis -- just fished on the Yaquina River yesterday for Chinook/Coho -- launched at Toledo Airport Boat Ramp 44.598, -123.939.  Also have launched from South Beach Marina.  Newport is pretty easy access to saltwater fishing.  If you like freshwater lakes, Green Peter Reservoir is within an hour from Corvallis and holds kokanee (sockeye) which can be a blast.  Expanding your radius of travel to 2+ hours yields a lifetime of options!  Have Fun!

Im a transplant from Norcal just moved here last year for school. I spend a good amount of time in both Newport and Corvallis. Ive been trying for my first yak salmon this year but still no luck haha. Let me know if you want to go spear some fish as I am a SCUBA and Freediver as well.
