Jeff,  Thanks so much for sharing your vids!  That's the kind of day I want to go fishing on the ocean!  Nice.

Don't the cabbies poke your legs when they wiggle around on deck?  Do you bonk them right away to keep them from doing that?

Thanks Barb!  The cabezon are pretty low on the poky-ness scale.  Their dorsal fins have some poky spines on them, but aside from that they're not bad.

Nice cabezon! Love the underwater shots and all the video. Great to see the schools of black rockfish down there and the underwater footage of the cabezon is beautiful. I'm curious if you tried a few different lures or not for the blacks that wouldn't bite.

Just my two cents but I'd love to see the whole fight when a fish is on the line, no need to edit it down! :)

Thanks for putting that together and sharing it with us!

I imagine that I could have found something that would have got a few of them to bite.  I did catch one of them before I realized how well I could see them below me but released it.  I was more focused on catching some lings and cabbys that day though so I didn't want to waste time or waste space in my kill bag on rockfish.  It was a good thing too because that kill bag was HEAVY by the end of the day with three fish in it.   ;D

No doubt on that!

I was just curious how stubborn they are when it's a slow bite. My last trip out we had the same experience: Not worth sitting around for hours trying out different stuff until we found something that works. But on another day, or if you limit quick and want to keep fishing... maybe.
