Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who instinctively coaches the whole time. I'm trying to stop... :)

See ya on the water..

Great vid, photo of the month!! Congrats to you both.

One question, when we're steelhead fishing in a drift boat (and of course there's two of us for this, one fighting the fish and the other handling the net) we always net from the tail to avoid spooking the fish. Curious why you prefer netting from the head, Roy.

if you try to net the fish tail first and spook it, most the time the gear gets tangled in the net and the fish will will break off, especially on a kayak because the gear is never straight up and down and more clear of the net like it it is more likely to be on a PB/driftboat. You want to get the heaviest part of the fish in the net first and if it spooks hopefully it swims into the net. Of course it doesn't always work that way...

What an epic fight!  That was the definition of a HOT FISH.  Way to keep your composure while Roy was freaking out!

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
