That Fish is Crazy!!!

Roy and I went to the Myrtle Tree area on the Coos River to fish for salmon as I have not had the opportunity to fish there.  Right off the bat I snag my line and lost my hook.  I got that over with so now on to some fishing.  We were fishing for two hours without a bite.  We were seeing fish jump all around us.  I was dropping my line and I thought I was snagged again until I saw from the corner of my eye a salmon jumping out of the water.  Fish on!  I am working to bring it in and he jumps again.  He goes under my kayak and comes jumping out of the water on the other side of me.  This is one crazy fish.  He jumped a total of 7 times with the first jump around 4 feet out of the water!  Watch the video and you will see what I mean.  I have this commentator that cannot shut up for anything because he is so excited.  LOL!  It was a thrilling time landing this salmon.  It was an awesome day once again fishing with Roy.  He is a great teacher and I love the enthusiasm he has for fishing.

That was so awesome. My girl is a champ! the first jump that i didn't get on video was a sky shot! That fish had a Coho complex for sure, 7 complete leaps from the water! Don't mind the babbling videographer, he was kind of excited...

One question, when we're steelhead fishing in a drift boat (and of course there's two of us for this, one fighting the fish and the other handling the net) we always net from the tail to avoid spooking the fish. Curious why you prefer netting from the head, Roy.
