Before you put that kayak away for the season, there's still a great year round cutthroat trout fishery on Lake Washington and Sammamish.  Yaktrap and I have been out the past couple of days fishing different parts of the lake.  Here's a couple photos including a 20" whopper I caught a couple days ago and released.

Video of YakTrap landing a nice fish.

Nice cutties!  Looks like a blast.  Wish I could get up there...

There are cutties in the lake that are a cross between rainbows and cutthroat.  Some don't even have the slash mark under their necks.

EGO S2 Slider Nets.  They are great.  Tangle free, easy on the fish and they extend and float http://www.egos2slider.com/

Nice! i have never seen those before. I see there is a few different options on the net. Are you using the rubber coated nylon? I love the fact that they are rebuildible. Looks like a perfect net for browns .

Nice fish and those are no doubt cutties,  and i love cutbows, but for catch and release I would lose the fish grippers as salmonids jaws do not support there own weight very well and the gill plates are essentially attached to there fragile jaws with a form of membrane, if damaged will result is certain death, due to there highly competitive feeding habits any long term impedance in jaw performance will most likely be the fishes demise.

Mine is rubber coated nylon which works great.  The net extends which works well from a kayak.

I'm not a fan of the lip grippers.  We only held it there momentarily to get the photo and avoid flopping out of the boat, not to land the fish.

Thank you for the info. Enough on the thread jack. Nice Cutthroat, makes me want to hit some local nearby lakes.

not in any way criticizing you Brad. Just creating awareness for all the new and aspiring fisherman out there.

I hauled these two today (released another). They hit the Rapala X-Rap which is almost the same size and color of the bait fish.

Hauled the solo fish a little while back.

Nice meeting you on the water Brad.

Good seeing you out there Ray.  We lucked out with nice weather and a strong bite.  I landed 6, lost a couple and kept one that was hooked pretty bad.  All nice fish from 17 to 19.5" and fat.  I'm trying out some spicy fish seasoning from Pakastan that Ali gave me the other day.

I leaked the story to the Seattle Times yesterday but I still don't see us having much competition out there on the water going into late fall.
