Waa, waa.  Woe is me. Tis a horrible thing (at least that is what I tell my wife and work supervisor).  I have to go to Alaska the week of 11/11/2013 for work.  I will be in both Anchorage and Soldotna.  Mostly Soldotna.  Any tips on where to wet a line and what to wet it for?  Or, better yet, any of you fine Alaska folks fishing during that time?  If Jammer and Spot turned you guys off to Oregon fisherman, I'll understand. ;D

Dude that is horrible. Try not to get eaten by a bear or run over by a moose.

Nice!  This year it's warm late.  That makes things less predictable.  Another problem is sunrise is at 9am and sunset is 6:30.  Not much time during the week.  Do you plan to stay a weekend?  If so the likelihood of me doing some fishing is relatively high though kayaking would be 50/50.

On a normal year, I'd be ice fishing then.  Not this year I don't think.  I have a kayak for ya if you have time.  My parents live 15 minutes away in Kenai.  I could stash gear there if I can't make it.

Marine is 101% weather dependent. If we can get out, chances are fair to epic.   Upper Kenai should still produce trophy fish once it settles back down. Those two places won't freeze and hold fish.  Keep in mind it could be ten below by then.

Others can chime in.  Keep the thread alive the closer you get.  I don't think it'd hurt to pack a dry suit if you have space and time.  Let me think about it and get on a real computer. Not sure how flexible your schedule is but it wouldn't kill me to have a reason to take a day off if conditions are right.  Accommodations will be tolerable in price unlike summer if you had a few extra days.

Thanks Kard.  I will know more in a few days.  I figured I could pack a dry suit just in case.  If it is really cold, I may wimp out. ;)

Take some serious long johns with you........

It ain't Oregon.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Yeah, I am guessing that is why I was asked.  All of the sudden proximity matters.  Had it been June we wouldn't be having this conversation and I bet someone from the east coast would have been going.  ;)

Well don't get too discouraged.  It seems like we are fishing year round.  It's just tough to make a call on where and for what given we are in the middle of our two seasons...winter and non-winter. lol.

We will keep an eye on the weather and opportunities a the days get closer!!!

Definitely keep the thread active the closer your trip gets -- for November, I traditionally think of Anchor River steelies. But now, equipped with a sea worthy kayak I'd put winter Kings out of Homer on the top of the list. Short days though ... fishing by headlamp OK?

I have faith in my Alaskan fishing brothers -- somebody here is going to put you on fish.

Thanks guys.  I will have more info soon (Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday).  I was getting skunked steelhead fishing today so I hadn't got any updates yet.
