Ok, I am getting obsessed with this winter king fishery.  Well I guess that's nothing new.  So far this year, not only have I caught kings but I have managed a red and a chum now (though the red was from a powerboat)

Considering making a run to Homer on Sunday if the weather stays where it is.  Will be fishing the condos out to the green can.

Though a downrigger is helpful, you can do the fishery with a larger diver like the deep six divers.  In fact, the advice I have been given is to fish the top of the water column if the pollock are a problem...and they HAVE been a problem.  If the last few weeks are any indication, skip the bait and bring hoochies and spoons to imitate the sandlances.  Those seem to be the dominant bait species the kings are targeting.  Will be fishing in 30 to 120 ft of water typically all up and down the water column depending on sonar returns.

Will likely be cold and wet but the biggest reason for not going for me would be the drive down.  But still contemplating it if anyone is interested.

Wish I could, but unfortunately I'm preoccupied with being a dutiful daughter. So keep those videos coming Rudy! They're part of my program for stress relief.

Given the current weather patterns I am thinking its a 75% go right now.  It's nothing new but I am beginning to obsess over these fish...that's not good given the time and effort I spend on catching fish in the "I don't really care" category!

Need the AK crew to provide more reports!  But with Pam doing what she has to, Andy out of state, Matt trying to stay ahead of a busy sole proprietorship... I can certainly understand.  I was in the same boat in 2012.  I will be traveling the second and third  week of November for work so I got to get at it while I can.

I will likely convert over to icefishing in December and I'll have over three months to plan how I am going to win the Homer winter King derby in March.

Also, I have every expectation that the second annual Whiskey Gulch Yak Classic will be held in May sometime!!!

Windy. Got to be gusting 25 to 30. Super choppy but nothing too crazy.

One for three at the half. For once I lose the little guys and manage to land the bigger one. Still not quite 15 I don't think. Not sure whether to continue or not.   Spray makes it not much fun. But catching one sure changes the attitude!!!

Nicely done!  I'd have been sitting on the beach with those gusts.  Maybe it's a Mars-Venus thing.

Nice job Rudy
Is the bottom picture in front of Lands End condos? That surf doesn't look too bad. Glad you got your fix. Makes the rest of us jealous.

I parked in between Land's End and the Condos they run.  The water wasn't too bad.  The tide was coming in (flowing into K -Bay) and the wind was from the South.  It made for some super choppy water with lots of spray.  Caught the fish pretty much directly in front of the condos only about 100ft off shore if that.  Had a cheering gallery as I netted the fish.  Surprised me!  lol.

The picture was at high tide starting to go down so as soon as the wind and current were moving in the same direction, it settled down nicely.  The tides were 22 ft down to a minus 4 so LOTS of water movement.  Should have kept fishing but no thanks to Daylight saving time or the lack of, sunset is at 5pm.  Scariest thing about kayak fishing in Alaska right now...the black ice on the highway!

Hey Mark.  Here's where I caught my fish.  My gopro is acting up. I only got a 9 second clip salvaged from a full SD card.  But you can see where the "action" was.
