Well I got my PB and my tandem sold, so I have cash in hand. Looking for a new or gently loved  ;) Hobie Oasis. (Yes, I've demoed it, yes I'm in love, no I'm not considering any other tandem at this time.) If it is used it would have to be The Right One, I'm being picky this time!

So mostly this is a shout out to see if anyone knows of any 2013 close-outs or good deals on a kit (want turbo fins immediately, for example) or if The Right One used is out there I'm open to that too. I want the red one, I want turbo fins, and I want the deep gear buckets (I realize I'll probably have to order those either way).

Anyone know of any deals? Thanks in advance. Looking forward to joining the leg-powered masses. :)

You'll have better luck finding out about deals if you call the shops and ask if they have any older models they're willing to make a deal on.

That is the plan. Just figured I'd send out a smoke signal on here since there seem to be some folks "in the know" who are active on here. Thanks for the advice.

I saw on craigs that ballard inflatable boat has some last year models on sale for a pretty good price. It was mostly addy's and those girly revo's but you may call them and ask if they have oasis.

Thank you both. They are advertising on Craigslist as well so I did see these. Still holding out for a red one. Work has been really busy (getting a new guy up to speed) so it's cutting into my kayak shopping time!

There is a really good deal in central oregon on CL. Pretty much ideal except for it's sand color :( Otherwise a great value (if the hull is in good shape). I don't mind the drive to pick it up - good smallmouth reservoir nearby... hmmm decisions decisions....

Dude, don't buy used. Unmolested boats just feel better. I like knowing that I'm the one putting all the dings and scratches on the hull. Hold out for the last year's models or go 2014! I think you will be much happier breaking in a boat yourself. I'm excited that you're joining the hobie crowd.  This is a dream for you.   ;D

Given that I'm at least the 3rd owner of both of my kayaks I guess I see that differently.  New is nice, but not always justifiable in terms of costs.  And kayaks are pretty durable products.

The oasis at Ballard inflatables is not a year old, it's more like 5 years old.

Plus from what I hear the guy that runs that shop is a jackwagon.  Never dealt with him personally, just what I hear from others.

ETA: Just looked on the website and appears that he's just got one or more Addy's left.  The Oasis is shown on the website as sold out, as are all the other Hobies except the Addy, an AI, and a Quest 13.

Stay away from Ballard Inflatables! I still can't forget humiliation I experienced at Ballard Inflatables. Go to Hobie Cats Northwest, whose owner is really super nice and friendly person! There is also a dealer at San Juan island - Friday Harbor Marine, I talked to Jan Close and she is also really super duper nice person, and she often can offer very good prices. And both Hobie Cats Northwest and Friday Harbor Marine still have some of 2013 models, either just regular or demo.

:) I see both sides of it. But I'm definitely leaning towards new. There's not a lot of stuff in my life (cars, houses, etc.) that I really care a whole lot of it's brand spanking new, but I think it would be fun to be the original owner this time. Also I plan to keep it for a few years at least so I can handle the depreciation... although from what I see of used prices they don't really depreciate much!

Good to know! This is the type of info I was hoping to get when I created this thread - I knew you guys would have some experience with the dealers. Thanks!

This is great information, thank you! Based on the comments here I'm definitely staying away from Ballard Inflatables. Friday Harbor would be quite a drive for me, but it's always fun to have an excuse to go up there. I am hoping to have time this afternoon to do some calling around.
