Once the dust of this years Oregon Rockfish Classic finally settles and John Hayashibara picks up his 1st place prize, a Hobie Revolution 13 from Next Adventure, we ultimately hope to generate a little money from the event. I'm happy to announce that we did in fact raise some money this year. Because of your entry fees and support from our sponsors, we raised $2000. Woohoo!! I decided to donate the $2000 back in to the Depoe Bay community and left it with "Neighbor For Kids", a non-profit designed to give kids a little less fortunate a safe place to go and do really cool things. Please check out the links below.
Thank you all for attending this years ORC..
Cheers!

Awesome! Thanks for the update. It's great to hear that we're helping out a good cause and keeping it local.

Thanks for reposting that vid again too. It's great to revitalize the stoke, and I think I caught a glimpse of my knee around the halfway mark ;D
(I'm on YouTube! Woohoo!)
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

Yeah, they got me holding up my whopping 4lb ling while out on the water.  Also saw a shot of my back at the fillet station at the boat launch.

Wow that is really cool. I'm seriously impressed. I really like that you put the donation back into the community. This really makes me want to sign up next year. Even if I can't make it I know the money will go to a good place.

Keep up the good work... this is awesome!

Hey Jammer - Just came across this and just wanted to say Nice Job!  It's things like this that provide our kayak angling community with awesome public relations.  Good to know we were able to help out some local kids while having fun ourselves.

Cool video I had not seen.  Jammer - you did a great job of planning and coordinating the ORC 2013.  Very well done.

Just another reason to get excited about the next ORC.

Thank you brother! I'm sure most any of our NWKA family would have done something similar with the proceeds. I know spot has in the past. Neighbors for kids is a really cool operation. I'm so impressed, I've offered them a free guided kayak fishing trip for 2 from Kayak Fishing Oregon to be used at a silent auction this year. I just love what they're doing for the kids!

Jammer, That is the epitome of excellent.  You're offer is just what that program needs along with a great role model.

Thanks Barb! I'm not sure about roll model, just glad to help and really love what they're doing. We just might be seeing a few helpful kids down at our weigh in this year. They REALLY appreciate what we do to help support them.
Thanks!

Yeah... The role model thing may be pushing it just a bit. ;D

Just kidding Jammer.  What is the silent auction for?  Do you know?
