Ditto what Demonick said.  Plus, with a Sampo swivel on the end of my braid main line, I can quickly convert to either a jig or trolling set-up, and not worry about line twist.

So I whipped up a line splicing jig this weekend. I don't have all my splicing tools in yet so I started working on a couple rods that needed guides replaced. I happend to have an old Dodge Dakota window regulator motor laying around which will work perfectly for spinning the rod.

Ill post more pics of topshots with "knotless" splices soon.

Have you had a chance to make any wind ons on your jig yet?

Not yet. I got distracted with a couple other projects. But I did get to use it to replace guides. I intend to get back to it real soon though. You know how it is when you get a new tool... But boy those threading needles are real small! I hope my hand and eye are steady and sharp enough for this size of hollow core.

Erik
Maybe using a lighted gooseneck magnifier would help?

Thanks!  Hoping my work schedule will cooperate this year so I can fish.   Erik, I know what you mean.  Been trying to put off getting bifocals and readers.   So far I've been able to work down to 50# HC ok w/o them. The DaHo needles have round enough points I don't have much issues feeding line on to the needles.  Much easier than the short flat latch hooks I used decades ago with hollow Dacron.
