Post your preferance and why. If you run a separate leader, choose your mainline only in the poll and describe your set-up in your body text.

Be specific. List line weight, type, color, brand etc. If you are like me, you have your favorite "go-to's", yet there's so many on the market with prices all over the place....

I have settled on 65lbs power pro.  Green in color.  I use 50lbs fluoro topshot.  Anywhere from 30ft to 5 ft.  Then a section of whatever pound appropriate leader.

I use it for everything off my kayak now when fishing in the salt.  I used to reserve mono for down rigging but have since changed my mind and even prefer braid in that application.

I use 50 lb green power pro with a 30 lb mono leader about 2 feet long. This is on my heavier rod.

I also have a light spinning setup with 10lb mono for blacks, greenling and perch.

I assume you are talking about jigging: 30# suffix braid with a few feet of 30# fluoro leader.

For vertical jigging, braid is awesome because it does not stretch much if at all, unlike mono.

I use 25# braid and I pre-tie about a dozen 5-6 foot 20 pound mono leaders with a swivel on one end and a swivel/duolock on the other.  They attach to the mainline via a swivel/duolock.  I haven't had to tie a knot on the water the last couple years so I haven't gotten seasick either.

Ok... So I fish jigs on the salt. I have fished power pro, power pro slick, and sufix. I THINK I like sufix best... That might change after my next trip. I do know that I like to fish 40# braid. I have tried 65# and I just don't like it. As for color I just want to be able to see it... So moss and red suck IMO. I like the hi-vis yellow in pp, the light green sufix, and I think I will like ghost in sufix.

As for leader, I don't get sick like Craig, so I tie on the water.  ;) I like 30#mono for my leader.

50# braid and 30# mono leaders.

I try to tie enough ahead of time to last the trip, but I usually leaving them somewhere inaccessible and end up tying some on the water. That doesn't seem to give me seasick problems - watching my FF too much can leave me a little queasy though.

On my jigging rod I like 65# green power pro with a 50# mono leader. It holds up against toothy lings and snags pretty well. I'm pretty good about getting my gear back most days. Typically when the fishing is better :)
I have a lamiglas that I use for salmon and rockfish. 50# green power pro and 30# mono leader feels good with this set up. It's sturdy enough to handle rockfish and gives me confidence to land a big ling if I get so lucky.
I tie my rigs before I launch to save time so I can get right to fishing.  If I lose gear I can re - rig without staring at my line too long. It's the constant monitoring of the FF that gets me nauseous. I find that I get sick on a boat more easily than on a kayak.
Anyway...braid is best. Heavy mono leader is nice too. I'm considering going with steel leader for live baiting this coming year. It just sounds like too much fun.

65# braid and 30# mono leader.  Leader changes to 150# or higher when attempting to catch halibut

65# braid, mono leader.  if fishing for lings, I'll use 30#+ mono for more leader.  50#+ for halibut.

I usually splice in a  short length of 20# mono on the leader if I'm fishing near rocks - I have a really tough time breaking off anything heavier when I get hung up.

I got a bad spool of 30# power pro a couple years ago from a bulk spool at a sporting goods store, and lost a couple salmon - put a scale on it and found it consistently broke at 15# or less - so I decided I'd always check my braid for strength every time I respooled.  I've never had a problem with power pro since that episode, and dont trust the sporting goods bulk products any more.

Decided to go with 65# because its easier to handle, and I dont worry so much about knot strength.

50# braid for my mainline and either 25#, 40#, or 150# mono for my leaders, depending on what type of bottom fishing I'm doing.

Using either 50# or 65# yellow PowerPro (I've bought both and don't remember).  For everything except halibut I use 20#-25# mono leader.  Much easier to break off when snagged up. Yellow is much easier to see the angle of the dangle as it enters the water.

My salmon leaders are fluoro because salmon are more leader shy than bottom fish.

This last year I have run both mono and braid on 2 different poles for comparisons. My go-to's are 50# Berkly Big Game mono, and 50# green Power Pro. This year I tried red PP and like it for the visibility of the line.

I'm hung up on doing as little tying and messing around with leaders and management of terminal tackle on the water as possible. Recently I have tied my jigs directly to the braid with no leader, and to my surprise I seem to have equal success ratio between mono and direct tie on braid. I love the sensitivity of braid, but I like the freedom of not having to tie on leaders when using mono. I strip off line often both intentionaly and because I snag up a lot, and I'm ok with that, but I probably should re-examine my tackle managment system to make using pre-tied leaders less of a hastle.

I was blessed with a new jigging rod and reel combo for my birthday, and before I spooled it up with one of my go-to lines, I decided to go shop for what's new on the market. Right now I'm leaning toward trying the Seagar Threadlock or Smackdown tournament braid. 50# braid at .015 Diameter! Thats 260 yards capacity of 50# braid (equal to 14# dia.) on a Daiwa Millionare Classic 300.
