Welcome!  Unlike a lot of the other forums, you will this group to be much more friendly!  lol.  No such thing as dumb question if it helps you stay safe and catch fish!!! Judicious use of the search function wil help out immensely.

As far as your interior question, most of us are in Anchorage or somewhere near by.  Copperrivervalley83 was in the Delta area I think but haven't heard from her lately.

We could definitely use some intelligence in the interior.  After seeing some of the icefishing pics for Harding Lake, I definitely want to give that a try but I hear it can be a zoo with powerboats and jet skis in the summer, so I am hoping to hit it just at ice out or right before the ice comes on.  Massive char and lake trout.

Are you military? Though I'm not, I know some members in other forums who are super knowledgeable and willing to help folks out in the interior.  Some of the better fishing opportunities close by Fairbanks are apparently on the various bases in the area.

Glad to meet you on here. Hope to meet you on the water sometime. Maybe May? For the last couple of years, we've been meeting at Whiskey Gulch (Lower Cook Inlet) for some friendly competition chasing Kings and halibut. Now that you've gotten yourself well-outfitted, I hope you'll be able to join in the fun.

I don't do much fishing in your vicinity, but one destination that I highly recommend is to fish Tangle Lakes for grayling. Incredible dry fly fishing in mixing zones ...

Welcome!

Howdy all. No I am no longer military. I got out a few years ago. As for Harding I have been on it a time or 20. the ice fishing is kind of a pain as you have to have a good sonar unit and be very good at reading it. I am not. If you go on a sunday or a monday those are the best times. Most people are gone and there is limited power boats around. Right after ice out is one of the better times to go. I have been very lucky in the past trolling with my brother in his power boat. We caught 16 fish in less then 8 hours last year. We did not keep any of them as neither of us really like to eat trout.
If you do decide to come up here let me know. I will gladly meet ye there. they have a really nice campground right on the lake. With pretty good amenities.
As for whiskey gulch I will watch the thread and I would love to make it down there. I dont see any reason why it would be a problem as of right now.
