If you have something to discuss with the Oregon Marine Board this would be your chance:

Group advocates for people-powered boats

Statesman Journal

This is the opportunity for those with people-powered boats, rafts, canoes and kayaks to get in the game. The Oregon State Marine Board’s external non-motorized boating advisory committee meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training facility, 4190 Aumsville Highway, Salem.

The committee will make recommendations to the Marine Board about how best to involve and include those boaters.

Agenda items include updates about previous meeting action items, discussions about regional public outreach meetings and videotaping the committee members for outreach efforts.

Because most of the money to operate Oregon’s boating agency comes from motorboat registrations and federal motorboat fuel taxes, most boating enhancement projects in the state are geared toward that group. The meeting is open to all, and time has been set aside at the beginning of the session for public comments.

Written comments can be mailed to MariAnn McKenzie, Non-Motorized Boating Advisory Committee coordinator, 435 Commercial St. NE, Salem, 97301.

You also can drop them off at the Marine Board office on the west side of Commercial between the Marion and Center Street bridges. The fax number is (503) 378-4597; email is [email protected].
