By the way Evan... I don't know what your definition of "Fishing wasn't amazing" is, but  you say...30 greenling, half a dozen lings, Blacks, perch... and non stop action on perch and greenling.... SHEESH! Sounds like a great day to me! Wish I could have joined you. Looking forward to Wednesday!
Erik

Haha I guess overall fishing was pretty good. I was just a little disappointed in not finding a good sized ling. Last time Chris and I were out there at the end of November, it was ling city and i was expecting it to be the same this time or even better. I've caught so many perch and greenling lately that I may have gotten a bit bored with them. Especially when you catch that many in a day but dont get an aoty upgrade.

Also, I just found out I am working in medford tuesday and wednesday. Hopefully I can get back to fish on Thursday.

Hibernation mode off...

Roy and I did some fishing at Woahink Lake a week ago.  It was great on the lake, warm and no wind!  Unfortunately he was not happy that I out fished him, again.  LOL

Roy will be there on Wednesday but I have to work.  :(  I would prefer to be on the water.  It's going to be cold Wednesday morning so be prepared.  I'll be thinking about you guys and the fun you will be having.

The wind has improved too! I'm excited.  I stripped the transducer out of my outback to install on the Revo. I haven't decided how to mount the FF yet...I have some gear track and Mighty Mounts...

I just installed some Gear Trac, fastened the FF to my Ram mount, ran the wires through the Lowrance Ready Plate and ate dinner. I'm still not done getting my rods and reels set up, tying leaders or getting the kayak on my rig. Just a quick break and im off to get the rest sorted out. I am the king of procrastination.

Had a great time out there! Conditions were awesome! A bit cold on the fingers in the beginning. Too bad the weather took a turn for the worse for Thursday, I am now sitting here looking out my window watching it snow >:( But at least my hands still smell like fish ;D

Its sounds like everybody in kayaks came in with fish according to a couple of guys on the beach. I only seen Dana, Chris and Erik out there enough to talk to and fish with.

What did everybody get.......

I got 3 decent blacks, should have kept the 3 I threw back because I didn't touch a fish after that :(

It was nice to get back out on the water! The wind was chilly in the morning but I found shelter in the cove by the light house. Based on Scott's report I'd say he faired the best. I'll let him chime in on that one.
Rockfish were easy to find with the FF. They seemed to be chilling on the peaks of rocks that jutted up from 60 to 30ft. I had good luck dragging gear down the sides of this type of structure. They chased my jigs down to 60 ft and that's where the bite always came. I caught a few nice blacks but threw them back thinking I'd find a better grade of fish. Didn't happen haha.
I switched to shrimp hoping to find perch and greenling. I ended up catching a flounder. The only greenling I landed came on 2oz lancer jigs and I never did find the perch.
I was surprised that I didn't catch any keeper lings. Only two almost or barely legals are all I could drag up.
Overall I'd say it was good to get out but the fishing was slow and hard earned. It was cool to see everyone too. It's always nice to fish with friends.

+1 on that! That is exactly where and how I was getting the blacks. The 1 "don't even bother measuring" ling I got was in the exact spot you got your "funny smelling" flounder :D

A fish in the cooler is worth two in the sea!
Here's a short clip of my first "bite" of the day.

I did get 2 barely legal lings and a 18" black and 9 keeper crabs. both of the lings bit on my shrimp fly. I had a lot of tail biters all day too. I could have stayed out there the rest of the day it was so nice. I'm definitely glad I wore an extra layer of fleece underneath 'cuz I was perfectly warm. I just wanna go again now...
