Has anyone used the Yakattack Cell Blok fishfinder/battery mount?  I have been trying to figure out the most effective way both for cost and ease to be able to transfer my fish finder setup from kayak to kayak.  If the unit works as described I would be able to transfer my battery, fishfinder and transducer arm from kayak to kayak somewhat easily as long as there were tracks on both.  I found an on-line article-review but would like to hear of any first hand experience with it.

That product is really new and I think the reviews you found are from the beta testers. It sounds like the Cellblok does what it claims to but for myself I think the bulkiness of the box doesn't really make it that practical. Don't listen to me, "follow your heart...that's what I do."

I saw the (Rapid Media-Kayak Angling) article too and thought it was pretty slick. I thought it was interesting that the article shows the install on a WS Commander just like mine. This would have been the route I went when I installed my ff on this boat not long ago. I may still do the mounting something like this eventually. Since I motorized mine, I don't need a battery box, but I like how the deployment arm is fixed next to the ff on the box.  I just mounted my td off the bottom of my motor with a hose clamp (which I don't prefer). Eventually I will go with a deployment arm like as shown in the article mounted on the same trax mounted bait board as my ff. I would just have a power wire from my big battery located in a dry box to plug in.

I think because its so new, your not going to find anyone to give you a review unless someone here was fortunate enough to be one of the testers of the original 35 beta units.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Especially if you have multiple kayaks. Also gets the transducer in the water instead of shooting through the hull, which may or may not affect the signal.

That's a cool concept.  An all in one unit would be nice for switching it between kayaks, getting accurate water temperature readings, eliminating the wire mess and reducing the amount of holes you need to drill.  It does seem a bit bulky, but even at that size I bet it can be stowed pretty easy if you want it out of the way during launches and landings.

I wonder if the battery can be charged in the box, or if you have to remove.
