Hello NWKA members, thanks for having me and for providing such a great place for all things Kayak Angling for us NW'ers!

I do not own a Kayak... YET, however, would like to soon. I've recently acquired a pontoon, which I'm eager to fish from, but haven't to date. More importantly, my wife has been eyeing Kayaks for some time as a "would like to have" and I've been on the fence... UNTIL, it dawned on me... one would likely enhance my arsenal of angling approaches.

I'm a native Oregonian, 33 years and counting! I've grown up, all things outdoors. I took a period of time off from fishing (I have my reasons, not proud of them, but fishing had gotten the better of me) and 3 years ago, established a fondness for fishing again! All of the woes which were are 100% absent now, and each and every time I go now, I'm fully vested and enjoy the experience to the fullest.

I've officially put myself in the market for a kayak. Knowing everything is give/take, I'm even 100% willing to trade/sell my ATV to obtain one. Rather I get a kayak sooner or later, I figured what better way/start to learning all things kayak angling, than join this site! Some may say this is going out on a limb, but being an avid iFish member, this to me is on the same plane - from Kayak Anglers for Kayak Anglers... though I'm not one now, I WILL BE!

Thank you all for allowing me this opportunity to introduce myself, and I look forward to getting to know many of you through time to come!

Take care,

Tundra Tim

Welcome aboard! I like your attitude already. I sold all my guns to help pay for my second kayak...It's a sickness. But it's oh so good! Good luck on your kayak search.

Thanks Chris! I'm very excited to have found this site and to begin engaging in the content filled world of Kayak Angling.

I'm finding it a tidbit of a challenge to locate many used Hobie's, but just as I do everything else, I'm not giving up. Actually, in my quest to find a used Hobie, is precisely how I found this site... seeing others so eager to share CL ads of Kayaks, told me "this is the place for me!".

Take care!

Ok, feeling mighty green here - when you say Demo - where would one in the Portland/Salem area to demo a Hobie? I'm assuming it'd be similar to test driving a car from a dealer before buying...

Thanks!

Portland area has Next Adventure.  I am not sure about Salem.  I thought there were just prisons down there.  Is there shopping, too? ;)

Lol - I'll definitely check out Next Adventure... Perhaps they have a used for sale board too.

You're right, Salem it's only
Prisons... It's like Salem is a prison! :-)

Hey Tim,  I'm a fellow newbie from Salem.  I thought you might be interested in this,  http://bend.craigslist.org/boa/4315540034.html
A Hobie Revo 13 for sale in Bend for $1600 OBO.  I've been watching it waiting for my tax returns, I'm wanting a boat for my wife to use.  A few weeks ago I found a Hobie Outback on Craigslist for $1400 that I bought and am loving it.  Look me up when you find one and lets go fishing.

Thanks Salemite! I'll try and contact them today and see if a deal could be made... I'd hate to take it though, if it's something your chasing after.

As for fishing, soon I hope!

No problem, there will be others.  Who really wants to go fishing with their wife anyways?

I'd certainly go fishing with my wife, as it would mean I'd likely go fishing more... and in my book, more fishing = more fishing, and I won't complain with that.

For the record, my wife doesn't fish, nor does she want too... she wants a Kayak for other purposes... which is a blessing, because now I can get a Kayak to join in on what she wants to do, all the while, I'll be using it for fishing - if this isn't a "Win Win", I'm not sure what is ;-)

Went to Next Adventure yesterday afternoon for a little window shopping, feature discovery - they only had the Pro Angler 12 in the show room... but by the looks of it: I want I want I want... I'd likely choose the 14 of the 12, just because of the additional 100 lbs rating on it and being I'm steadily 270 lbs, figured it's likely the better bet - however, in my current situation of desiring a trade for my quad, I won't be too choosy ;)

If you haven't been, I'd encourage you to take a trip to Next Adventure... though, leave your wallet at home :)

Oh, I learned my lesson too, spent $1.50 in parking off of Grand, to find out, Next Adventure has 2 locations, with all thing paddling not being in their flagship location on Grand... AND, the paddling location has a parking lot (albeit small), which saves you from having to pay for parking.

I can't remember the name of the lady I spoke with, but she was extremely helpful and as a HUGE +, she was laid back, chill, and not at all pushy.

Should I end up purchasing a yak retail, then Next Adventure is at the top of the list!
