So, Drano lake is probably the largest one, I know it holds fish seasonally, but there are a lot of little lakes/ponds along the highway, mostly on the Washington side of the river. Do they hold fish? Most of them are not connected to the river. I'd like very much to kayak on them with a rod or 2.

Here is the WDFW link for that area:

http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/County/Skamania/

Zoom the map in on the area you are intersed in to get the lake names.  Click on the lake on the left to get fish info.

Good luck!

Rowland Lake in WA, just upriver from Hood River, is well stocked an pretty easy fishing. Gorge gusts can make it exciting...

Thanks for the link Atomic....I've often thought about fishing some of those pocket waters myself. Also, inviting are a few on the Oregon side along I-84. Only time will tell if there's cooperative fish available, but I seem to have plenty of that...time that is.  ;D

Hartman Pond and Benson Lake on the Oregon side get stocked with trout throughout the summer.

They are all connected by a pipe or 2 to the main river as far as I know.I only fish and the ones east of the dalles.as a kid fished some west of Lyle.as far as I know they all have most of the warm water species, catfish, large and smallmouth, bluegill, redear, pumpkin seed, crappie, carp and occasionally sturgeon, and god knows what else.I only fish the Oregon side.
