Thanks for the help, another question, any one have a second yak that would be willing to take him out fishing for $?   I would prefer susnet bay but the tressels sound like fun as well.  I'm planning on a trip down there March 15th and 16th, anyone interested?  I will be bringing my outback, but would rather pay one of you for the use of your boat than to rent one for my dad.  Any one interested?

If conditions allow, I'm in. I'm sure between all of us in that area we could set your dad up for the day.

Wow, you guys are great.  I'm going to put it on the calendar for the 15th and 16th, let me know when and where and we will be there.  And if that weekend doesn't work just let me know what day works best for you.  looking forward to it, thanks.

I think weather and conditions will be the determining factor. You will learn very quickly that everybody on here will pretty much help you out any way they can to get you out on the water. I check the surf/weather report pretty much on a daily basis. I use the link below.

The low tide for that weekend is a little early for getting out an hour before the change. It would still be dark, I think. The nice thing about catching the low tide is you can ride the outgoing tide to get to the fishing, once the tide picks up and gets too swift to continue, you can ride the incoming tide back to the launch.
The high tide would be fine but there is just about a 7ft exchange from high to low, so there will be some pretty decent current ripping through if you decided on fishing the trestles. The return to the launch would be a little more work but not impossible. I just thought that would be something to consider since you said you're bringing your dad. If he's fine with the work out then I'd say it's a good option if conditions aren't right for Sunset.
The solunar chart looks good for that weekend too, be ready to catch some fish!

Either way I'll let you guys decide where will be best to fish.  My dad should be able to keep up.  He's 67 years old and in decent physical shape.  I would prefer to fish in the ocean, just because I haven't had my kayak in the salt water yet but I'm open to anything.  Just want my dad to experience fishing from a kayak, I think he will enjoy it.    Sure appreciate all your help.  Thanks

Heres a little video I took on sunday. Its nothing exciting. I got a new playsport and wanted to try it out. I got out there around 8 am and pedaled down to simpson reef. Simpson is the rocks you can see on the horizon. I fished for about 20 minutes and caught one 26 inch ling. I decided to head back just in case the weather got any worse, but it seemed to stay about the same. I fished inside sunset bay for a while and caught a couple nice perch around 14 inches before calling it a day.

Also, I am very sad to say, this was the last voyage for my Outback. It has developed a pretty bad crack in the drive well, and Hobie is sending me a 2014 Revo13 as a replacement. Unfortunately, I have to cut out the drive well of the outback and mail it to them. Its really going to hurt me to do it.  RIP Outback.

Nice shot...makes me want to hit it! Ling season doesn't open up this way 'till 15 Mar (MA3) and I can't wait.

Congratulations on the new boat, may the Outback rest in pieces. If I were you I'd save a piece of the OB and mount it someplace in the new Revo hoping some of it's mojo transfers!

Good idea. I will find the bloodiest, dirtiest spot on the outback and cut out a little piece to stick on the revo somewhere.

That is awesome! Sad to hear you have to cut out the drive well.....I thought or read it was only the serial number..... That is alot of wasted Hobie plastic :protest: Can I I have a chunk of your hull for future repairs :violent1:

They want to inspect the drive well to see why it cracked. You can have the entire hull if you want it, minus the drive well, rudder and all removable parts. ;D

Anyone who wants the hull is welcome to it. It will save me having to recycle it. A warning though, the hull is pretty scratched up. Im going to try to be nicer to my new one. I removed everything that was removable, so if anyone needs any outback parts, just let me know. I might hold on to some of the parts that are compatible with the revo.
